Confessions of A LiteRARY Magazine INTERN
"
It's
like, I'm not a student. I'm an editor for this incredible literary magazine
and my job is to read manuscripts and poetry submissions, design cool flyers
and brochures, proof read essays for the Mickle Street Review and help in the
creation of kick-ass parties for the Painted Bride Quarterly.
"I think the coolest part of the internship is being upstairs at the Khyber,
in Philly. There are so many great authors and poets that we get to meet and
listen to, and they look at me like, 'Oh, so you're one of the editors.' There
are so many rewards. It's an incredible feeling to know that you helped put
everything together in such an artistic and literary way."
There are certain moments that define REALITY, that grab you by the heart and the lungs and the skin and say, THIS IS WHO I AM and who I want to be. An internship as an Editor with the Camden Online Poetry Project (COPP) is that defining moment. Not only are we about Poetry, we are about ART and Literature and the DESIGN and MARKETING of three Literary venues. You are offered 3 credits in exchange for REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE working in the field of publishing, and in our opinion, you can't beat that.
This internship is open to English, Computer Science, Graphic Design and Marketing Majors.
TO LEARN MORE about this exciting internship opportunity, Kathy Volk Miller and current interns will discuss the program and read from the three components of COPP. This is a friendly, informative and FUN discussion. Bring your questions, ideas, poems, friends. Open mic will follow and refreshments will be served.
Tuesday, October 29th, from 12:30 until 1:20 in
the North Conference Room of the Campus Center
