The offices of the components of COPP will eventually be housed at 417 Cooper Street, the
location of Rutgers - Camden's proposed Writers House. The house will contain a living area,
dining room and kitchen, and a small library with literary and writing magazines. After
restoration, the house will serve as a community for English students and others interested in
writing. It will also serve as a venue for the following:
- Poetry and literary readings: Open to all creative writing genres and acoustic guitar
- Workshops
- Tutorials
- An annual small press and book fair
- Book discussion groups
- Forums: prior to each term's registration, students could meet and discuss classes they've
taken, classes they're curious about, etc.
- Prior to each term's registration, instructors could come and speak about their classes,
especially new courses.
- Help with grad school admissions and grad school selection.
- Guest speakers talking about "real world" issues, such as job hunts for English majors, what
English majors can do after graduating other than teach, how to break into journalism, how to be
published.
- Peer writing groups, for both creative writing and term papers. This would give students the
time and space to help one another, without the sanction of a grade.
